He was born in İskenderun in 1960. After completing his primary, secondary and high school education in Iskenderun, he graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1987. Between 1988-1992, he specialized in the Department of Ear Nose and Throat of the same university. He started to work as an Assistant Professor at İnönü University in 1992. He resigned from the university in 1993 and after completing his compulsory service for 1 year at Tatvan State Hospital, he worked as an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist at Adana State Hospital between 1994-2009.
He is married and has two children, a boy and a girl. He is interested in water sports, skiing, swimming and table tennis, as well as motorcycle sports. In 1993, he joined Op. Dr. A. Özhan Türeli and Op. Dr. İ. Şeref Doruk and they continued their profession at Sevgi Medical Center. In 2007, he established Galleria ENT Center, which is Turkey's largest and most equipped ear, nose and throat center in its field, together with 7 partners. Op. Dr. Ahmet Payas is still working.
