Journalist, painter, calligrapher.
He was born in 1928 in the Göçük Village of Tarsus. He started his journalism career as a painter-caligrapher in Yeni Sabah newspaper in 1954. He printed Atatürk's 100th birthday posters. The artist was drawing portraits of Atatürk, which were published in newspapers on 10th of November every year. The portrait of Atatürk which he drew on the occasion of the Atatürk Commemoration Day 10th of November while working for the Milliyet newspaper in 1969 was the most permanent of his works until that day.
Ethem Çalışkan is also the illustrator of the world's largest portrait of ATATÜRK, created with 6000 people in Ankara, Anıtkabir. He visited our Galleria Ear Nose and Throat Center on May 28, 2016 and was kind enough to share his memories and experiences with our team.
